Step 1: This photo demonstrates the removal of the worn sole, heel with base and cork foot bed, paying close attention to any areas that require service. Next the loose welt will be hand stitched back to the shoe, know as inseam stitching.Step 2: The cork foot bed has been carefully replaced with the molded shank piece placed back in the proper position. At Mr. Mender® we pay very close attention to the details involved in insuring that every pair of shoes is handled with the utmost care. The shoe bottom is now leveled to accept the new soling materials. Step 3: The new sole is carefully placed on the shoe. The sole thickness is matched to the original to maintain the integrity and flexibility of the shoe. All soling leather is hand selected by our Master Craftsman. Our soling leather is some of the finest available in the world. The sole is then stitched to the welt or insole depending on the type of construction, then carefully trimmed.

Step 4: The heel area is now prepared for the application of the heel base and top lift "heel". The type heel selected will be of the same style and similar materials as those used in the original construction of the shoe. We have a wide variety of materials to insure your shoes are serviced properly. Step 5: Now the shoes are finish trimmed and burnishing ink and waxes are applied to set the edges and bottoms. Each pair at this step is again inspected to insure proper balance and finish, then polished to bring out the natural beauty of the leather.Step 6: Polishing and conditioning of the upper leather now takes place to restore the natural beauty to the shoes. This is a hand process that insures your shoes are put back in top notch shape prior to being packed for return shipment.
As you can see, at Mr. Mender® our highly skilled craftsmen do every step of the process with caring hands. We guarantee you total comfort and satisfaction!
